Tour de Fleece

Participation in Tour de Fleece is free! And all participants set their own goals for the tour. Want to learn to spin? Want to learn navajo plying? Determined to clean, card, and spin a whole fleece? Whatever your fiber dream, sign up for Tour de Fleece with Upper Room Studio and we will be here to encourage, challenge, and cheer each other on! No goal is too big or too small!



We will be having a kick-off event at the shop on Saturday July 3rd, at 1:30-3:30pm. Come and meet all of your teammates, show off your spinning equipment, and have a good time spinning together. Experienced spinners will be on hand to lend assistance to those just getting started, both on wheels and spindles. We will also be having specials on learn-to-spin kits that will include a drop spindle, fiber, and a free lesson for. We will also be making several spinning wheels available that day for rental at a rate of ($10 per hour; anyone who decides to purchase a wheel will have their rental fee applied to the purchase price!) This a great opportunity to get some real spinning time on wheels that you may have been wondering about!



The fun doesn't end after the kick-off event! We will be spinning together each Thursday evening from 7:30-9:30. Each week there will be free demonstrations of a spinning related activity, including: hand and drum carding, plying techniques, fleece cleaning, and more! If you ever wondered about a spinning technique these Thursday night sessions are going to be an ideal time to get a close-up look! Come with questions and be prepared to learn! As always, Thursday nighters who knit, felt, or are just curious about fiber arts are welcome! You are the Tour de Fleece Cheerleaders! And you won't want to miss the wonderful, healthy goodies that are handmade by the Lilley Girls! On our last Thursday, July 22nd, all participants will receive 3oz of raw local Alpaca FREE!
