Grateful Living Homestead

For the past 5 years I have been running Upper Room Studio as a retail Fiber Art Studio. I have learned so much and have met many wonderful people during that time. Over the years the direction of Upper Room Studio has changed and expanded and in order to make room for those new changes we are having to eliminate some of the old. We are excited to announce that Upper Room is merging with Grateful Grains ( my mom's whole food and herb business) to create Grateful Living. We will no longer offer retail but you will be able to find our items at many local shops. We will be offering many classes and other services at our homestead and other various locations. You can find out more info at www.gratefullivinghomestead.com

We will be using our family blog as a kind of journal so you can "see" what we do. We will also be posting recipes, special events, photos and lots of our own version of "normal life".

Thank you!

Thursday Night Knitting Class!

Come join us at Upper Room Studio for a month long class and sweater knit along.  Tammy Schilling will be leading us in making Shelly Mackie's Adult Pinwheel Sweater. You can see it here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/pinwheel-sweater-adult

This is a very wearable sweater that is doable by knitters with just a little knitting experience.  The sweater is sized as you knit, so you are certain to get the fit you want. Tammy will be teaching the magic loop technique for circular knitting, so you will only need one length knitting needle for this whole project (those who prefer DPNs and multiple length circulars are welcome to use that technique)!

Our project kicks off on Jan 10th and will run for 4 weeks! We will meet at Upper Room Studio at 7pm until 9pm.  These sweaters are so fun and easy. We are going to have a great time with them. We'll also get to learn how to do applied I-cord and make design choices for our edgings!

The cost for this class with yarn kit is only $90!  You will get 8 skeins of Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece in colors of your choice (from available stock). There will be 40 colors to choose from! Knitting needles will also be available to purchase for those who need them.

This sweater is knit in a changing gauge (going from tighter to looser), so you will need three needle sizes to complete the sweater. Bring to class a 32" needle in each of the sizes to meet your gauge (sizes 5/6/7 for loose knitters, 7/8/9 for tight knitters), some stitch markers, and some non-fuzzy scrap yarn.

Contact Monika today to reserve your spot and yarn pack.  Supplies are limited!  Email upperroomstudio1@gmail.com or call 443 373 3115.

If you have technical questions about the sweater you can email Tammy at magistra@verizon.net

Get ready for a great January knit!
